Hossam Ramzy, who joined other special guest musicians for Loreena’s performance and subsequent live recording at Royal Albert Hall, died on September 11th. His collaboration with Loreena dates back to 1995 when she was recording A Winter Garden at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in England. At the time, Mr. Ramzy was part of the Jimmy Page and Robert Plant tour (of Led Zeppelin fame), which was taking a break. Those songs were later included in Loreena’s 2006 album A Midwinter Night’s Dream. Mr. Ramzy also performed in four songs on her 1997 The Book of Secrets, including the worldwide hit single ‘The Mummers’ Dance’. In 2006, he again joined Loreena for two numbers on her album An Ancient Muse and most recently on Lost Souls in 2017. “Hossam was not only an incredibly gifted musician, he was a friend,” said Loreena. “He will be profoundly missed within the music world and among his many admiring friends and colleagues.”
