Following her performance in Saguenay as part of December’s 7-city tour, Loreena stopped in at 3 Wing Bagotville, the Canadian Armed Forces base. She was there in her capacity as Honorary Colonel of 435 Transport and Rescue Squadron based in Winnipeg, Canada, a position she has held for the past six years. While in Bagotville, Loreena had lunch with the Wing Commander, toured the base and hangar, and from the control tower watched the $40-million CF-18 Hornet fighter jets take off. The 3 Wing Bagotville is a general purpose, multi-role, combat-capable force that supports both domestic and international Canadian Air Force duties. It also does search and rescue missions. “It’s always such a great honour and a pleasure to be able to see some of the important everyday work undertaken by the men and women who serve our country,” said Loreena, whose responsibilities as Honorary Colonel range from ceremonial attendances to participating in various search and rescue exercises with her squadron. Her role is intended to be a bridge between civilians and the Canadian forces.
