The 180-gram vinyl record is being released on Loreena’s independent label, Quinlan Road. Pressed at Record Industry in the Netherlands, it is unique and limited to just 5,000 copies.

“We’re excited about bringing more of my recordings into the vinyl format as more and more people discover its wonderful sonic strengths. This is an experience which has been largely lost over the past 15 years or so of this digital experiment we’ve been living. We have had a number of people share with us just how much they appreciate the sound of the vinyl as well as the pleasure of being able to hold the jacket in their hands and study the artwork, lyrics sleeve notes and credits” says Loreena.

Troubadours on the Rhine was originally recorded on March 24, 2011 during a live performance for an invited audience at the Mainz studios of a German radio station. The hour-long set was recorded exactly as it was performed – without editing – and was part of Loreena’s promotional tour of Europe at the time. The set featured material from The Wind That Shakes The Barley, as well as other fan favourites, including ‘The Lady of Shalott’, ‘Bonny Portmore’ and ‘The Bonny Swans’. Loreena was accompanied by Brian Hughes on guitar and Caroline Lavelle on cello.

The recording was initially released by Quinlan Road in February 2012 as a CD and digital download. Other titles released as limited-edition vinyl records include:
