Loreena McKennitt is often described as having the voice of an angel… now she is also the “Voice of God”.

In her new role on the silver screen, McKennitt plays the Voice of God in the movie Road to the Lemon Grove.

Directed and produced by Dale Hildebrand, Road to the Lemon Grove is a heartwarming comedy about an old-world Sicilian father trying to negotiate his way into heaven. McKennitt’s “Voice of God”, advises the father that he must first repair his relationship with his reluctant son, by getting him to settle a bitter family dispute over a Sicilian lemon grove, and in turn, discover the heart and soul of who he really is.

Sam Cino (Citizen of the Year 2019 – Sons and Daughters of Italy) calls it,  “A movie with an intelligent heart. Road to the Lemon Grove is a beautiful film that honours the immigrant experience like no other movie has before.”

Paul Gross (Actor, Director, Producer) said, “Lovely, thoughtful work. Beautifully woven. Uplifting. Hopeful.”

The film is a humorous yet touching look at the loss of culture and identity that can only be rekindled by reconnecting with the heart of who we are.

Starring along with Loreena McKennitt, are: Burt Young (Rocky), Nick Mancuso (Ticket to Heaven), Rossella Brescia (Italian TV star and Italy’s Prima Ballerina), Charly Chiarelli (Sicilian “Spalding Grey”), and Tomaso Sanelli (Titans).

This award winning, independent Canadian film leaves viewers feeling connected to their roots and proud of their heritage.  Winner of the Cirs Award at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily; Best in Italian-Canadian Cinema at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival; Excellence in Performance Award at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival; and Best Comedy Feature of Edmonton International Film Festival.
