In honour of the 79th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, a ceremony was held earlier this month in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, where Loreena sang the national anthem. She was performing in her role as Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force, a title she has held since 2014. The annual event commemorates members of the Royal Canadian Air Force who fought and died during the Battle of Britain, which was considered a turning point in the Second World War and the first battle to be won purely by air power.
