Loreena speaking at virtual fundraiser May 2

Tune in at 7 pm EST

Get ready! Put on your comfiest clothes, mix up your favourite drink and join us all tomorrow night!

A Stay-at-Home Gala, to be broadcast through Zoom this Saturday, May 2nd will feature a string of distinguished personalities, entertainers and thought leaders, including Loreena, who’ll be speaking from the heart about the role of ‘service’ during this worldwide pandemic.

She’ll be participating, not as a performing artist, but instead as someone whose reflections stem from her own experience as Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force, as a charitable fund-holder (see Irene McKennitt Fund for Nursing Excellence), and as the owner and director of the Falstaff Family Centre in her home base of Stratford.

The event is being hosted by the Stratford Perth Community Foundation, a registered charity also based in Stratford which is part of a larger network of community foundations holding their own galas across Canada. The national goal is to raise $1 million for organizations supporting those affected by COVID-19 – while at the same time uniting us in laughter, lively entertainment and meaningful reflection.

“These are extraordinary times,” acknowledges Loreena, “and these kinds of events can lighten the isolation, bring us together to learn from our collective experiences, and hopefully move us all forward towards meaningful, lasting change.”

The guest list also includes Canadian journalist and former CTV news anchor Lloyd Robertson, PGA golf pro Corey Conners, Stratford Festival performers, and Juno-nominated singer/songwriter Dayna Manning, as well as many others.

The show begins at 7p.m. (EST) and ends at 9 p.m. It will be broadcast using the web-based tool Zoom, which by now most of us are familiar with.
